Welly Trees

In
my travels round the reclamation yards I often found single pieces of
beautiful timber, but not in large enough quantity to make a bed or a coffee table. They
gave me the idea of making welly trees using the timber and the
branches of felled trees. In the spirit of Ethical Beds, each welly
tree is unique, distinctive and quirky, with an organic feel to it. Although I have used mahogany and teak, most of the bases are made from a beautiful pitch pine beam I bought. It
had a "shake" in it, meaning it was split along its length around one of the annual growth rings, and
was certainly the "pitchiest" pitch pine I have ever seen; the
chippings from it smelt beautiful and made superb firelighters! As can be seen, it has a
beautiful vivid grain and its density is especially useful in providing a solid support for the wellies. The bases and branches have been varnished and can be an attractive talking point indoors or left outside so the rain can clean your boots for you.
PricesThere are a few exceptions but the general rule is that a welly tree holding three pairs of wellies will be £35, one holding five pairs of wellies will be £55 etc.
