After making a more rounded profile on my prototype bed, I wanted to create a more rectangular, chunkier look with my second effort so I just softened off the corners and edges. This bed has three uprights simply because I had just enough enough wood to make three! I couldn't bear the idea of wasting a good piece of timber. With this bed, the whole of the top end - headboard to legs - is glued and pinned. Although it makes for an incredibly solid construction, it also makes it a nuisance to transport. The bottom beam and legs are glued and pinned, so the main frame breaks into only four pieces. In all the beds after this one I made sure that the top end and headboard separated into two pieces. Although only the second bed to be made, I still think the proportions of this bed are the most pleasing on the eye.
